What is prayer about?

Filed under: christianity — ruthtan @ 4:31 pm

Listening to pastor Kong’s sermon again, and it always blew me away~

Here are my short notes for sharing pleasure :)

1.)Prayer is asking  God
John 16:24 – ask and we will receive and our joy may be full
Luke 11:9

2.)Prayer is seeking God
2 Chronicles 7:14 – if God’s people will humble and seek their face

God wants us to love Him for who He is, with a heart of devotion – because we love God we want to pour our heart to Him.

Petition and Devotion and Intercession – asking and seeking

3.)Prayer is knocking on heaven’s door
Change of environment happens by prayer

Learning the 5 love languages

A great sermon from Pastor Kong! and the book which originally written by Gary Chapman surely is a great way to improve our loving abilities.

I shall summarize what I’ve learnt… enjoy!

All human beings needs to love and feel love as a basic emotional needs. You can have all the money in the world, but if there is no love, you are just empty.

Everyone of us has a love tank. When our love tank runs low, its time to fill it up, else our life will be miserable.

But first, we must discover our love languages on which that we most needed of. There are only 5, therefore it is not difficult to learn.

The reason why so many divorces ends up is because partners fail to communicate with the right love languages, and ends up empty love tanks of each partners, and in need of more love they try to find else where.  The 5 languages not only applies for marriage, it also applies in relationships with friends and families.

Below are the 5 love languages:
1.) Words of affirmation:
- Words like “you’re more handsome than brat pitt”, “you’re more beautiful than etc etc”, “you’re so attractive to me”, “you’re the best!” builds one’s self-esteem, thus they will feel affirmed, accepted and loved. As a result, people who speaks this love language contributes to their love tank.

2.) Quality Time
- Not as in quantity, but spending quality time in showing sympathetic listening, and not providing solution to the problem for the person. Spending quality time together is very important, doing the things that mutually enjoys marks the importance of time that could not be attain back anymore.

3.) Receiving Gifts
- People who speaks this love language is the easiest to communicate and learn.  They will feel very loved when they receive gifts.  If you are not a generous giver, it could be a challenge for you. However, in being physically there whenever the person needs you is the most powerful love you can show to people who falls in this category, which is the gift of self.

4.) Acts of Service
- Simple chores expresses love for people in this category. Things like making bed for the person, cooking, sweeping and tidying up their house / belongings brings affection and appreciation, and love felt of course. Take note that this should not be done out of obligation, but willingness as a way of love expression.

5.) Physical touch
- An offer of hug for example may be better than giving a sound advise to the person. People who speaks this language values the physical touch of the person, as a way of communicating secure and being loved.

What I’ve learnt from City Harvest

1.) Generosity
Looking at them, they are really history making big time givers of all.  The budget spent for the Asia Conference was 4.6 million and offering collected was not included to patch up the conference expenses, but every dollar goes to the poor and needy of community in Singapore.

I’ve learnt that we should not be takers but givers, as it is more blessed to give than to receive.  Everytime we give it moves our heart and tears, but when we sow we reap in joy.  No man sows one seed and receives back one seed, hence multiple and more seeds than sowing at first place.

2.) Love
I’ve came to a point of realization that we don’t love because we feel like it, but it is a choice.  We choose to love because how Christ loved us, we love people with no string attached and with no prior intentions.  Love draws people like a magnet, it is a vital and needs of every human being as affirmation of acceptance.

I see City Harvest members do really love and care, and that’s how the church grows tremendously.  It is not easy to love difficult people, especially our enemies, but love can change someone who is difficult and unloving.  Love is greater than signs and miracles.  Faith, hope, love, the greatest of these is LOVE.

Charlie Angels saved the day again in Singapore~!

Hi to all faithful MC2u blog readers, greetings and I hope you all enjoy the holidays.  Today I shall blog a good blog, hope you all have the patience to read em’.  hehe

For the month of November, nearly 50% of the month I spent holidaying, and 50% working like a mad person.  I would start my work on 8am and ends at 8pm, then continue 9pm till 1am on Starbucks.  It was really a great marathon.

I started my holiday by working from 8am – 8pm (Intel), then 2am till 10am (Starbucks), finally 3pm sit bus to kl reach at 8pm (Aeroline).  It was a great victory of achieving something in life I would say.

Until then it is time for my effort to be paid off, I then holiday for about 2 weeks (1 month got 4 weeks).  An intense work of 2 weeks and a relaxing continuous 2 weeks.  That was what I expected.

But it was a No No~… T_T  I end up queueing up for Asia Conference an average of 4-5 hours, and sleep an average of 5 hours a day.  Have to focus my eyes on my friends not to lose them in a big crowd etc.  In addition, the day where I go to KL falls on my friend’s finals exams and assignment week, which in hand I will have to help them write their reports and doing photography editing.  I would conclude that my month of November as 2 weeks intense working, and 2 weeks intense student working weeks.  sigh… I’m tired, but at the same time satisfied with what I achieved.

One of the greatest photo and most memorable was to take photo with Rev. Kevin Loo.  Notice the orb around the photos?  Wow, isn’t it beautiful, such anointing in the place.

I would say my life was greatly impacted.  Though the first night was a little difficult to push through, we sat in the overflow room hall, just because we spent 1 hour waiting.  After that we learnt our lessons and as a result we start lining up for 4-5 hours everage just to get into hall 8, where the stage and everything happens there.  Since then our first night we didn’t get into hall 8, the following of all services we managed to get into hall 8.. BUWAHAa…

Of course these comes with a price, we didn’t get to eat alot because we were busy lining up, we didn’t get to go shopping around Singapore, and we didn’t get to go to toilet conveniently.  But all the waits was worth it, as this only happens once and it’s the first Asia Conference by City harvest.

In this I shall end this portion of post with a list of songs I’ve learnt from the Asia Conference.  My choice of recomendations and selection would be: 1.) The God I Know 2.) Above all else 3.) Elevate Your Name, do check out the accoustic version of “The God I Know”, such beautiful songs.

light of the city

Last and foremost, the greatest thing I had done was bringing my SG didi some ‘special sweet’ and some malaysians keropok.  It is a great achievement as I had brought something that took me 10 hours journey from PG –> SG.  It was a challenge to find my didi as there were limited communication device and we never met in person before.  It was a great moment and I learned alot of stuffs from my online bro’ …  I hope we have longer time together, next visit I will bring my family along.  As for now we shall pray for God’s financial providence to be able to go SG again…

2nd November – Arise and Build – Manifestation – Ps. KongHee

Filed under: christianity — ruthtan @ 10:08 am

“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.

Prov 13:12
Hope defered make the heart sick…

As a believer our hearts can become sick, and facing in disappointment and lose hope in believing something more.

Biblical manifestion in it’s simplest form: Logos become Rhema
- when a  bible verse stands out to us, we then will experience a manifestation.

John 1:1-14
In the beginning was the word, and the word was God….
v14..==> The word became flesh (something that comes to a reality to us)

Wonderful Anticipation Ahead!

Indeed this is an anticipation never thought of, it’s a blessing to get more than 10 days off to go for Asia Conference.  After working of almost everday of my life, I believe it’s a great harvest to enjoy.  Also, it’s a great event to end with the wonderful year of 2008.

I am expecting and able to look in future the great events that’s gonna take place.  Never seen Benny Hinn nor attend his meetings, this would be a 1 in a million life time’s great opportunity.  Sydney Mohede my greatest guitar influence, I will be joining in the congregation of him leading praise and worship! Wow, and Pastor Kong Hee!  This is my 3rd time listening to his sermon LIVE and in person!

I will also be attending the praise and worship workshop, which I believe I can get even more indepth knowledge after some previous information I learnt from Emerge Conference 2008 Kuala Lumpur.  I will be meeting some of my Singapore friends from G4C whom I had never meet in person but in forums only.  This is so great, words could not describe in MC2U blog of how excited I am.

I’m so obsessed with CHC, I just feel it’s the way that every church in the world should be like them, because I believe the system, the culture are the most effective and relevant in today’s society.  Do check em’ out in my youtube videos, just type ‘ruthee7′ in youtube and find my videos.  :P

A dream is a dream

If you can get something easily, and getting it now without any concern, it is not a dream anymore.  Example, to achieve eating KFC anytime I want now is not a dream anymore, it’s a dream come true since my student time without enough cash in pocket at that time.

A dream is something we have in our imaginations, something in mind and heart of getting, but in no hand of guranteed whether will get it or not, that is why it’s called, DREAM.

As for now, I am dreaming the following:
1.) A nice non-plug-in accoustic guitar
2.) A car
3.) An air conditioner
4.) A clean and organized room

What is your dream today?

Write them down, ask your Father in heaven, work out ways and God will do the rest!  Because he owns everything in this world :)

Emerge CHCKL

Emerge KL was awesomely good.  Check out their photos at http://www.chc.org.my.  Came to think of it now, I am in the mood of going back to those few days of conference again, where from morning 9AM till 11PM every night, sleep about 2-3AM daily.

Never thought I could meet back so many friends whom I never thought of meeting at all.

Tiring, yes it was.  Exciting, yes it was.  Phenominal and priceless experiences, indeed.

Food, toys and ‘luxuries’, expensive, time and energy spent on friendships, well it is priceless.
